Direct-To-Film FAQ

What is DTF?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers are vibrant, full-color digital prints on transparent PET film, designed for application to various fabrics using a commercial heat press. These transfers are quick and easy to apply at low temperatures, making them perfect for intricate designs with unlimited colors, gradients, and free-floating text.

How do I order DTF transfers?
Ordering is straightforward. Simply choose your preferred transfer sheet size, upload your design, and complete the checkout process.

What file format should I use?
For optimal results, vector files are recommended. Raster images are also accepted, provided they are at least 300 dpi resolution, saved at print size on a transparent background. For 22x24" gang sheets, please upload your file in PDF format. Make sure to double-check the file size when uploading (you can verify this on the right side of the designer tool).

Preferred file types are .PDF and .PNG.

Can you assist with artwork?
Most definitely! We offer artwork assistance, including vectoring services, for a fee of $25.00.

How should I prepare my artwork?
- Upload only the exact design you want printed, as all artwork is printed as submitted.
- Remove any unnecessary layers, comments, or background rectangles.
- Fine details, thin lines, and small text can be included, but keep in mind that lines thinner than 0.02" may not transfer properly due to insufficient adhesive.
- Ensure your designs have hard edges, avoiding transparency, drop shadows, or fading, as these may not print or transfer accurately.
- For vector files, all objects should be on a single layer, and outlines and text should be converted to objects.

Will the printed colors be an exact match?
Exact color matching is not guaranteed, although our color conversion process is highly accurate. If precise color matching is critical, we suggest ordering a sample or our Color Chart DTF sheet, available for $10.00.

Please note that printed colors may differ from what you see on your monitor, as each monitor varies in calibration and color display.

What size transfers can I order?
You can order multiple copies of a single design, with pricing based on image size and quantity. These designs will be delivered pre-cut.

Alternatively, you can group your designs into 11x12" or 22x24" sheets and upload them as a single file. These grouped transfers will be shipped uncut and rolled in a protective tube.

Do these transfers last?
Yes, DTF transfers are highly durable, withstanding over 40 washes without cracking or peeling. To maximize the longevity of your decorated garments, we recommend washing in cold water and hanging them to dry.

How difficult is it to apply these transfers?
Applying DTF transfers is simple. They are printed on transparent film for easy positioning, and require 8-12 seconds of pressing time with medium pressure. The transfer should be peeled while warm. Detailed heat pressing instructions are included with each order.
